Spectrum Health Pennock first announced its plans to expand its existing facility in July 2018, stating that the new facility will allow the healthcare organization to provide better and more efficient care to patients with greater convenience and more privacy for patients and families as all functions touching surgery will be adjacent to each other.

Spectrum Health hired CSM Group to provide construction management services for their expansion project. CSM Group managed work to be completed without disruption to ongoing patient care in adjacent facilities and also developed a plan to reconfigure parking areas that became displaced.

The expansion features a large entrance and canopy structure to provide a dedicated entrance for surgery procedures, as well as three operating rooms.
