CSM Group was honored with two Excellence in Construction Awards from Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Western Michigan Chapter on Thursday, September 17, celebrating the chapter's 40th anniversary at GLC Live at 20 Monroe in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
The awards recognize CSM Group's work on Burdick's Bar & Grill, winner in the Renovation/Addition/Tenant Build-Out: $6-10 Million category, and the KRESA Career Connect Campus, winner in the New Construction: $75-100 Million category.
"These two wins say something about the range of what our teams can deliver, from a full renovation inside a live hotel environment to one of the largest, most technically demanding builds in our region's history," said Stuart Mason, Chief Executive Officer of CSM Group. "Different scale, different challenges, same standard. That consistency is what I'm most proud of."
CSM Group led the renovation of Burdick's Bar & Grill, transforming a long-standing downtown Kalamazoo restaurant within the Radisson Plaza Hotel into a modern hospitality destination. The project expanded the dining space and reconfigured interior areas to enhance the guest experience, all while construction took place inside an active hotel environment.
CSM Group also received top honors for the KRESA Career Connect Campus, a state-of-the-art career and technical education facility and one of Michigan's few educational buildings constructed with a mass timber structural system. Designed for hands-on workforce training, the 162,000-square-foot campus supports programs ranging from health sciences to manufacturing, while showcasing innovative construction methods and strong safety collaboration.
Both projects reflect CSM Group's continued commitment to delivering high-quality, complex construction projects across West Michigan, from historic renovations to large-scale new builds.
