CSM Group, a leading Michigan-based construction management firm, today announced the appointment of Dr. Jim Getting, CSP, as Senior Director of Safety. Dr. Getting officially joins the CSM Group team on May 18, 2026, bringing more than 25 years of experience in construction safety, behavioral safety systems, and safety culture transformation.
Dr. Getting comes to CSM Group following a 19-year tenure as a Senior Construction Safety Consultant with the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA), where he served as a trusted partner to construction firms across 15 counties. In that role, he worked to identify hazards, strengthen safety management systems, and proactively reduce workplace injuries and citations. His work brought him into direct contact with CSM Group projects, including the Kalamazoo Event Center and Kalamazoo Country Club, making him a familiar face across CSM Group’s subcontractor network.
“Hiring Jim is a reflection of how seriously we take our responsibility to the people who build alongside us,” said Stuart Mason, Chief Executive Officer at CSM Group. “His background in both field-level safety and behavioral science gives us a leader who can strengthen culture and systems at the same time. We believe that having a safe place to work is a fundamental human right, and Jim is the kind of leader who makes that more than a mission statement.”
Dr. Getting holds a Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology and is a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and OSHA 500-authorized instructor. His career spans safety leadership in high-risk industrial and construction environments, large-scale training design, regulatory consultation, and statewide safety standards development, a combination that bridges compliance with people-centered leadership.
In his new role, Dr. Getting will partner primarily with CSM Group’s At-Risk business unit, focusing on strategic safety leadership, proactive risk identification and mitigation, frontline engagement, and closing gaps in knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) across project teams.
“Safety is not just about rules and compliance; it’s about putting people first, accountability, and leadership at every level,” said Dr. Getting. “I’m proud to join an organization that genuinely lives those values, and I look forward to building on the strong foundation CSM Group has already established.”
