CSM GROUP'S TODD MCDONALD HONORED AS
“BUSINESS LEADER UNDER 40”
There are business leaders that break
the mold to create opportunities for
success. They create new, sustainable
concepts and processes for the
future; they revolutionize their industry.
And, they often overcome seemingly
insurmountable obstacles in the
process.
CSM Group's Todd McDonald is a
perfect example, and as a result, he
was recently honored as a Business
Leader Under 40 by Western Michigan
Business Review (WMBR).
The selection committee scores the
nominees on leadership, accomplishments,
ingenuity, and community/civic
responsibility-and Todd excels in all
of these areas.
Todd started his career at CSM Group
in 1988, and became a Superintendent
in 1990. After only three years with the
company, Steve East, President of
CSM Group, asked him to become an
equity partner. Todd accepted-and
his importance to the company
continued to grow. He continued to
pursue coursework in Construction
Science & Management and received
his degree from Western Michigan
University in 1993. The following year
he was promoted to Project Manager,
before moving into his current position
of Project Director in 2004.
Todd has had a great deal of success
at an early age, but has obviously
worked very hard to make that
happen. Todd is now responsible for
numerous items, such as overseeing
commercial construction projects from
pre-construction to closeout, including
coordination with owners, architects,
and the construction process. His
experience in all phases of construction
allows him to monitor project
quality, schedule, and budget to
achieve the highest level of customer
satisfaction.
Important clients for whom he has
managed projects include Bronson
Methodist Hospital, Battle Creek
Health System, Meijer, Anheuser-
Busch, and many more. Todd
manages roughly $30 million in
projects on an annual basis.
Todd's efforts have earned numerous
awards, including the Associated
Builders and Contractors' "Award of
Excellence." But more importantly,
they have earned the respect and high
praise of CSM Group's valued clients.
"I credit my success to having a
supportive family. They are always
flexible and understanding when it
comes to both work and community
commitments. They take part and
interest in both my work and
community activities," said Todd. "My
partners and team members at CSM
Group have been both supportive and
influential in all my activities as well.
Though I may be the one recognized,
it was the efforts of a great team and
family that helped me succeed."
Todd has worked with many
community not-for-profit organizations,
serving on the Board of
Directors of several including Lifespan
Hospice, the Battle Creek Rotary,
Community Integrated Recreation,
and GBCIHA Hockey.
Todd and his wife Julie have been
married for 16 years and have two
children: Cassie, 15, and Chad, 13.
When Todd is not handling multimillion
dollar projects, he spends his
time on the lake with his family and
encouraging his children at their
sporting events. His wife Julie is an
educator and will receive her Doctoral
Degree from Western Michigan
University in 2007.
This is the third year Business Review
has organized this event. Over 100
nominations were received for this
year's competition, and 38 Business
Leaders Under 40 were selected. The
selection committee is comprised of
past winners and WMBR staff.
Todd received his Business Leaders
Under 40 Award at WMBR's annual
event held at St. Cecilia's Music
Society in Grand Rapids, and was
highlighted in a special publication
handed out at the event and distributed
to West Michigan Business
Review subscribers. |
