CSM's Petersen Elected President of ABC's West
Michigan Chapter
Curt Petersen, Project Director at CSM Group, was recently elected president of the Associated Builders and Contractors’ (ABC) West Michigan Chapter, the fourth largest of the national association’s 79 chapters. ABC is a volunteer-based organization that works with the federal, state and local governments and monitors the interests of member while ensuring proper fiscal expenditure. Its membership is comprised primarily of firms that perform construction work in the industrial and commercial sectors.
As president, Curt is responsible for improving business opportunities through political action, business development and market expansion. He is also responsible for maintaining the excellent relationships that exist among members and overseeing their safety through various programs, and cultivating the industry’s image through public relations, ethical business practices and environmental sensitivity. His responsibilities also include improving member employees’ skills and knowledge through apprenticeship, craft training, workshops and seminars.
Curt joined CSM Group as a college intern in September, 1987, and worked his way up through the ranks from Project Engineer to Superintendent to Project Manager. As a Project Director, he is now responsible for coordinating and managing projects from pre-construction activities through buyout and closeout. He is also an equity partner at CSM Group.
Curt recently managed the construction of Meijer’s new store in Rolling Meadows, Illinois, and the gymnasium addition/renovation project for Kalamazoo Advantage Academy, and is currently managing projects for Stryker Corporation, Midlink Business Park, Special-Lite, and Society of St. John Cantius.
When he isn’t heading up projects for CSM Group or leading the way for his ABC chapter, Curt enjoys hockey and gold. He and his wife, Molly, have three children: MacAulay, 7, who attends St. Augustine Cathedral School; Maggie, 5; and Josef, 2.
