CSM Group's new 10'x32' mobile office trailer served as Command Central during the Community Healing Centers' four-day "Roof Sit" event, a fundraiser designed to support child abuse and neglect prevention programs at the clinic.

CSM Group Trailer Available for Worthy Causes at No Cost

The song lyrics may say trailer for sale or rent, but in the case of the CSM Group trailer, it’s free. Free, that is, as long as you’re part of a non-profit organization involved with a fundraiser or other charitable event.

The CSM Group trailer is a new, 10' x 32' prefabricated mobile trailer that is available for use as an office or headquarters by any charitable organization at a key function or event.

When Ann Feldmeier, Development Director for the Community Healing Centers (formerly Kalamazoo Guidance Clinic), a total healthcare center for children, adults and families in Southwest Michigan, learned of the trailer and its avail-ability, she was thrilled. Ann was responsible for organizing this year’s “Roof Sit," a four-day event involving local disc jockeys and other personalities and designed to raise money for child abuse and neglect prevention programs at the Healing Centers. “We’d been using a motor home as our headquarters for events in the past, but it’s only half the size of the CSM Group trailer."

It’s Got It All

The CSM Group trailer is fully equipped with table and chairs, power hook-up, sliding glass windows with screens, and air conditioning and heating. The Community Healing Centers used the trailer as its headquarters and Command Central for staff members who manned a bank of telephones to accept pledges during the highly publicized “Roof Sit." Communications technicians involved in the fundraiser installed a webcam on top of the trailer so organizers could broadcast live from the event and generate more excitement and enthusiasm.

According to Feldmeier, the Community Healing Centers first learned of the trailer through Wrifton Graham, President of the Birch River Group and member of the “Roof Sit" fundraiser. “He and Steve East, President of CSM Group, are good friends and business associates. When Wrifton told me that CSM Group would happily donate the trailer for our fundraiser, I was ecstatic. And we all loved it. Absolutely loved it—that’s with a capital ‘L’!"

The CSM Group trailer was also used at Battle Creek’s Field of Flight, Air Show and Balloon Festival, which took place from June 30 through July 4, 2005. This marked the 25th anniversary for this popular summer event.

Trailer Is One of Many Ways CSM Gives Back to Community

Steve East is a steadfast proponent of supporting the community, both personally and professionally as head of a corporate entity. He has served on the Boards of Directors for the Lakeside Treatment and Learning Center (a refuge for at-risk kids), MRC Industries, American Heart Association of Calhoun County, Gull Lake Country Club, and the Park Club.

He is also able to combine his passion for horses with his desire to help those with special needs. For example, Steve and his wife, Tara, are involved with R.E.I.N. (Riding for Every Individual’s Needs) and The Cheff Center for the Handicapped.

Both are organizations that use donated horses as a therapeutic tool to help emotionally and physically challenged children and adults.

Beyond that, Steve is very active in the 4H Hickory Corners Club, and he is closely affiliated with the Western Michigan University equestrian team that his wife coaches.

As an organization, CSM Group generously donates to The United Way every year and has in place policies that encourage employees to contribute to that noteworthy organization, or to the charity of their choosing.

CSM Group is also highly involved with a variety of youth sports in Southwest Michigan, sponsoring leagues and teams, often on behalf of the children of their employees.
