Not-for-profit organizations come in many shapes
and sizes, and so do the structures in which they
operate. The list includes huge healthcare facilities and
mid-size office buildings, senior centers and youth camps,
shelters for animals and residential housing for people.
But often there are unique factors involved that can prove
challenging for a construction company lacking experience
in this area. |

Lifespan Hospice
Lifespan Hospice added an important dimension to its end-of-life care with its new Good Samaritan Hospice Residence. This facility provides a vital link in the continuum of care for those suffering from a life-limiting condition. The property features hills, ponds, and trees in a beautiful natural setting. Creating such a virtual “oasis” amid a commercial area was no small challenge for CSM Group and the project architect, Diekema Hamman, but it was an essential element. |

Kalamazoo County YMCA Natatorium Addition
This project included demolition of
the existing pool and a small bathhouse to allow the
addition of a new 25-yard, six lane, indoor pool
with locker rooms, storage and mechanical support
spaces. The main entrance and lobby for the entire
facility was relocated to the west side, closer
to the main parking lot and incorporated into
the addition. An existing power company transmission
line and easement, along with the existing parking
lot placed tight limitations on the possible
location and orientation of the addition. |
