Leading with a Culture of Safety

Specialized Field Education

Having a 10 hour or 30 hour MIOSHA training certification may have been somewhat impressive 10 years ago, but today’s construction environment demands a more proactive approach to job site safety.  As the controlling contractor, CSM Group is increasingly responsible for the overall well being of any person on our job sites; both from a health and safety standpoint.  Therefore, comprehensive and targeted safety training takes place continually for all CSM Project Managers.  The format may vary, but the message is clear.  The Safety of our job sites will not be compromised.

MIOSHA CET division initiatives

CSM Group utilizes the consultation, education and training division of MIOSHA to perform on site consultation.  The end result is a comprehensive site safety action plan of items which need to be addressed or abated on each of our jobsites.  MIOSHA CET division provides a fresh set of eyes and a learning tool for improved contractor awareness.  Training/education is the key to any successful safety program, and the CET division provides an additional resource for the controlling, creating, exposing and correcting contractor.

Ongoing workplace inspections

Continuous workplace inspections are crucial in today’s construction environment.  Our Compliance Director and Project Managers ensure the day to day work environment is free of health and safety risks through workplace inspections.  A detailed checklist of safety items is utilized and reviewed.  In addition, the Project Managers frequently review our information with the contractors to educate on what we expect from a health and safety standpoint.  What better way to help raise the level of awareness?  Safety is no secret.
