Otsego Public Library
CSM Group completed construction management services to this new, single story 17,960 sf. public facility. The library provides capacity three times that of the existing library on a new site with modern facility controls, state of the art audio visual display and electronic ready book receipt and check-out.
A local bond was passed in August 2007 and design was completed in April 2008. The library features Victorian era architecture at the building’s entrance, in a turret to the left of the entrance, in the windows and the portico covering the drive-thru book drop. The interior’s historic reading room is architecturally reminiscent of the City’s Bardeen Mansion, the former home of paper baron George Bardeen. A similar feature was constructed for the children’s reading room, with a façade resembling the Thompson House, another local period home. The facility is LEED certified, reducing impact on the environment and saving money for taxpayers for its operation. |
