Miller Canfield

The Miller Canfield building is a multi-story building located in downtown Kalamazoo, MI. The 153,617 square foot building includes a parking structure (two levels below grade, two levels above grade) with four levels of Class A office space, two levels of which are occupied by the law firm of Miller Canfield Paddock and Stone as the primary tenant. Prominent building features include the glass atrium at the face of the building, highlighting the view from South and Rose streets. The use of the limestone and granite disguise the above grade parking levels.

This project faced tight site constraints with a site situated between occupied buildings, a neighboring building under simultaneous construction (the Greenleaf Trust building renovation) and two prominent busy downtown streets. Further challenges included significant dewatering and construction of the cast-in-place concrete parking structure throughout the winter months.
